Eve of X’mas
When she arrived, she waited anxiously outside the house waiting for the green light to come in.
He raced through the house to light all the little candles in metal cup placed on a white porcelain plate graced with maroon color potpourris.
As she enters the hall, there was a table for two with two dinner plates and cutleries placed neatly on the table mats, two champagne glasses, serviettes, two x’mas hats and candle with enclosed holder.
The whole place was dimly lit with candles far apart, with only the brightest source of light coming from the X’mas tree. Visibly at the bottom of the tree, there was her present with little ‘Merry X’mas’ card pasted on it, guarded by little toy soldiers surrounding the 6” tall tree.
Bing-Cosby X’mas oldies injecting most of the X’mas mood, completing the ambience.
The candles were like a passage guiding her. Along the way there were elaborated X’mas card, sweet little messages in little red X’mas socks, message in a bottle. There were clues leading from one area to another and ultimately to her mini pre-X’mas present.
A little game he prepared for her to keep her occupied while he prepares dinner. Everything was done with touch of desire and anticipation for perfection in addition great motive to surprise.
As she completed the game, received her reward, she was all smiles and got her big hug.
Dinner was served. Just like every other candlelight dinner, there’s the appetizer, the main course and desert. He was the host, the chef, the waiter.
As X’mas approaches, simultaneous snow sprays as both were all messed up.
Champagne bottle was popped open and a toast was made to commemorate this wonderful day and for continuity of brighter days in the future.

Glory Glory Spurs!
We don't play like pussies anymore and the players are figthing for every ball. Berbatov's form too is vital to climb the league and he has been majestic and once again attracting rumours about him leaving the club. Personally i don't see him leaving the club in January but probably end of the season. As much as i hate to see him leave but he's just too good for Spurs and it's almost envitable because he's a world class players and the club is under-achieved at the moment. A player he's class should definately be playing in the champions league and Spurs will most definately miss the Champion's league next season. We need to salvage this season by qualifying for UEFA cup the very least since the damage has been done by Jol and it's pretty difficult to even finish in the top 7 considering the other teams this season has done well; Everton, Man City and Portsmouth.
The next game is a very difficult one, a trip to the Emirates againts the Gooners. Their key players will definately be fresh considering that Wenger rested several key players during the mid-week clash againts the Rovers while our team fielded key players. If i'm not mistaken Zokora will be suspended following the sending off againts the Citizens. This is a huge loss for us since we're already short of defenders, King, Dawson, Rocha, Gardner , Bale and Ekotto are still yet to recover. The obvious change would be Chimbonda to play the centre-back position and Stalteri to come in as a replacement or Tainio could feature again as he look solid in the right-back position againts City. Probable lineup for Spurs would be Robinson-Lee-Chimbonda-Kaboul-Staleri-Malbranque-Jenas-Boateng-Lennon-Berbatov-Defoe.
I believe that Spurs have what it takes to beat Arsenal but i'm not expecting much, i think a draw will be a great result for Spurs. Unfortunately, the recent win againt Chelski has given them a massive boost and it's difficult to stop them with our own team not at full strength. I'm a little pessimistic for this one. Anyway good luck Spurs!

The most over-rated team in the world

The most over-rated international football team in the world has to be England, without a shadow of a doubt. Medias all over the world often hype every pre-match, yet the team has failed to perform countless times.
I believe the English are taking things for granted. Just because the English Premier League is the best league in world in terms of the football and entertainment value it doesn't mean that the national team should be label among the world's best. One of the main reasons the league is doing so well is because of the influx of quality players worldwide; Fabregas, Ronaldo, Tevez, Torres, Drogba, Berbatov etc.
The current issue on limiting the number of foreign players in the Premier League will surely affect the league in a negative way. Just look at the national squad, the so-called best midfield pairing in the world Lampard-Gerrard isn't working at all.
This morning's match againts Croatia was pretty amusing. A few hours before the match, there was this English pundit that commented on the starting lineup. It was a completely new back-line as the first team players are mostly injured but the pundit mentioned that it shouldn't be a problem for England to get a result againts Croatia.

The funny thing is when i watched the match the, it was completely the opposite side. Croatia was dominating the match and England could have lost by a larger margin. Since David Seaman retired, England seems to be cursed with butter-fingers goalkeepers. Carson who replaced the Paul-fat-Robinson made a huge blunder for the first Croatia's goal. I'm sure if Robinson were in goal, things would be EXACTLY the same, yes same blunder.
Tearful Becks applauds the crowd after the gameCroatia by far were the better team. They deserved to qualify. Sad to say but England will not be in Euro 2008. My Italy vs England final dream has been shattered. It's just gonna be Italy vs another team that we're gonna beat anyway. lolz I'm sure everyone's gonna missl the hooligans during the Euro.

Sis Wedding Round 1
Last weekend was a pretty hectic day for my family especially my parents. Lotsa last minute prep's and slight confusion for the chinese wedding custom. But i guess it was very simple since both families are not very conservative type. Partly, i think things were a lot easier where there's no elderly around anymore as in grandparents and so on, if you know what i mean.
Morning was the arrival of the groom to our place and from there i had the chance to collect extra ang pow and i was helping out as one of the camera-man too. Next, followed by welcoming of the bride to the groom's place in Taiping. The weather did not help at all, it was hot like .......nvm forget it.
I was glad when the tea ceremony was over and we had time to check-in to the hotel to rest. But it was only a while and we went out hunting for delicacies in Taiping. After that, back to the hotel and almost everyone of us dozed off, snored like pig guys and girls. I don't usually snore, extremely rare but I was so damn tired, slept for about 3 hours only the night before.
At night was the wedding dinner at a associations hall, it was a small town, groom's from pretty simple family i would say. Its actually nice to be able to observe close-ties, family bonds, peaceful town life, simple people etc. Something which you can't find in city life.
Next round, 2 weeks time would be the wedding dinner in Penang (bride's side). That i believe will be even more hectic. Friends and relatives overseas will be joining. Huhu..
Till my next update, signing off....

Hopes & Fears
Time is running out….
I can only count the days ahead….
It’s looking like it…..
You know it just as much as I do….
A path diverges into two parallel paths….
Will it ever lead to the same destination?
I am afraid of the torture….
I will cherish all the moments….

Eight
Like any other Chinese the number 8 has great significance. I seem to trust this one.
Superstitions are not my type of game but in this case it’s fascinating to say the

All I can say is I’m looking forward for it. Gonna prove my critics wrong and go beyond expectations.

I had 6 options, yet I choosed none. My hesitation made me feel like an outcast.
Lucky number seven perhaps? I don’t wanna think anymore cause’ the more I think the more things become UNCERTAIN.
I miss part of those university days, wish some of the things were like how it used to be.
Talk about how things used to be, one day can make a lot of difference, even one hour, one minute, one second or one message.
I learnt something from Stardust, why does the guy need to chase for the Star just to prove himself to her? What did she do to prove herself?
I stand firm with what i believe

Built to attack

It's still early to tell, what our newly recruit manager will bring to the club. There's still so many questions on whether he is 'the man'. Spurs had swapped a casual track bottom-cap coach with someone who definately looks like the real deal judging by appearance.
This saturday's 'must watch game' Tottenham VS Middlebrough

Rumours
1. Daniel Alves set to become the first signing for Tottenham Hotspurs
2. Ramos is expected to press for a recruitement of a new goalkeeper and central defender. ( I say screw Robinson, sell him back to Leeds...lolz)
3. Kanoute to re-join Spurs! (It'll be interesting to see him back, he's already a World Class player compared to the days when he used to play for Spurs)
That's all for today

Reservations, suspicions and uncertainties.
Just when I thought I made up my mind, I told myself I’m gonna make this decision.
Yet, there is something that feels so right at times. But at times, it doesn’t feel so right.
I have so many questions but I don’t think there is anybody in this world that can tell me the answer.
I tried hard to understand things myself, to think ‘logically’ but with my short fuse, it ain't easy.
All I can say is I’m really pushing myself to the limits and I don’t know how much longer I can stand this.
“ I just can’t look it’s killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullaby
Choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
Cause I’m Mr. Brightside”

You're Fired!!!!!!
It's like a dream come true... I believe the club has taken a step forward although it takes them more than a quarter of the season to show them that they need to sack BMJ. I thought that they should have sacked him last season. Nevertheless it's marvellous. Next question is who is goin to take over? Juande Ramos?? I'm not sure if he'll do the job but one thing for sure he has done an incredible job for Sevilla. Mark Hughes is another possible candidate to take over and i do think he will make our team more solid, looking at the Royers gameplay, it's good in a way.Only time will tell .... *excited*

Wake me up when October ends..
Looking back on yesterday, fireflies, special flower, temple , tortoise…. Great to have this images in my mind. It was beautiful. When I close my eyes I can still feel the breeze and your warmth.
Can’t remember when was the last time I stepped into a temple praying sincerely. It made me realize something. We pray because of fear or when we really want something or perhaps things are out of our own hands that we can only hope for the best.
Lately I’ve been very rash at making decisions. Instead of being a year older, wiser and more patient I think I’m heading the other way round. It seems it takes me only 20 seconds from 0 to boiling point.
Not only did I burn two bridges at almost the same time. I’m left stranded looking for another way out. I admit that I’ve made a terrible mistake. Life is not so forgiving I guess, not everyone will get a second chance.
At this point, I think I could use some support, be it financially, physically or just morale. On second thoughts, this is my shit, I need to clear it up myself.

Peter Cincotti - Some Kind of Wonderful
All you have to do is touch my hand
To show me that you understand
And something happens to me
That's some kind of wonderful
Anytime my little world turns blue
I just have to look at you
Everything seems to be some kind of wonderful
I know I can't express this feeling of tenderness
There's so much I wanna say
But the right words just don't come my way
I just know when I'm in your embrace
This world is a happy place
And something happens to me
That's some kind of wonderful
Oh wonderful, some kind of wonderful
Great lines..

Selamat Hari Rayer to all ma Muslim Friends~!
All the way to JB was plain sailing till the cross-over to Spore which was really jam, took a few hours as anticipated since the day before all the Money Exchanger was out of Sing dollars. It's been a while since the last time i went there. I have to say that nothing much has change since then. Went to quite a number of places since i was there for a couple of days, ate a long of good food and managed to shop a bit too. But it could have been better, didn't really get somethings which are still on my wish list.
4 things which i'm gonna miss in Spore....
1. McCafe - Has been there for quite some time already but it's still not implemented in Malaysia. Wonder when are we gonna have McCafe. It could give the others a run for their money; Starbucks , Coffee Bean etc
2. Tony Romas's baby back ribs - Simply delicious, too bad the Tony Romas here ain't serving pork. Not that i have tasted lotsa delicious ribs but i don't think there are many who can top that!!
3. Beef Noodle - This actually brings back childhood memories, always liked it. Beef noodle served in those 'condo' style with black sauce, my favourita ;)
4. Ikea's Swedish meatballs - I know we have it in Malaysia but theirs taste nicer cause it's pork. I think i ate more than 10 meatballs. The first few was nicer but towards the end, not so good partly cause too many other sidedish.

Is it worth it?
but just like in football, it takes only a second to score a goal, in other words to change the game.
One sentence immediately changed my mood or rather it makes me snap out of everything.
Although i did choose to interpret it the worst case scenario or maybe just as a precaution I guess.
It’s just amusing that moments ago I was so certain of how to approach things.
Ironically, moments later it left me wondering what I should do.
Is it really worth it?
Only time will tell…

Spotlight on the Citizens
The premier league seems to be extremely entertaining this season, especially with so many teams capable of challenging for a place in Europe, for instance Everton, Blackburn, Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham and of course Tottenham. But the team that impresses me the most is Man City. Definitely the surprise package this season, considering the problems they encountered during the takeover bid from, Thaksin Shinawatra(Current club owner). There’s even protest after he’s takeover regarding human rights abuse. Allegations that he participated in media suppression and presided over extrajudicial killings clouded the capture of the club.
As controversial as the takeover bid is the appointment of Sven-Goran Eriksson as the new club manager. To some people, he is one of the top "conman artist". Well, I’m not making a statement but rather it’s amazing that he is the highest paid manager in world football during he’s stint as the manager of England yet he did not achieve anything significant. Initially, I really doubt that he can do much with the Man City squad but he has involved heavily in the transfer market, bringing in no more than 8 players with more to arrive, I believe.
However, after 6 games in the English Premier League, sitting 2nd on the table, proudly above their local rivals Man Utd. After watching most of their matches, I was in awe of their work-man like performance and with touches of flair here and there. They are definitely building a great team with good depth, covering each positions well with similar back-up players.
One of the main reason why they are doing so well is their defence; rock solid marshaled by Richards and Dunne with Corluka and Garrido as fullbacks. Hamann their most experienced player and also the oldest has been employed as an anchorman to sit in front of the defence and although he is pretty slow but he has done a superb job breaking opponents attack and allowing the attacking players to do their job.
Other notable key players in the team are Petrov on the left wing and Elano, playing just behind a target man. Elano has been awesome in almost every match, with he’s superb passes and vision. It’s a pity that Bojinov is out injured for quite some time else he would have taken on the right wing place I believe. Their target man Bianchi looks superb too, very mobile and capable of holding the ball well.
Elano & Barry challenging for the ball
With the presence of the foreign players, the team is well balance with a blend of youth players in the mould of Michael Johnson, dubbed as the new Frank Lampard. Looking as he’s winning goal yesterday against Villa, very similar I would say. Other youth players in the team worth mentioning are the keeper, Kasper Schmeichel( 4 clean sheets already), Nedhum Onuoha, Stephen Ireland and Micah Richards obviously.
Michael Johnson on the left in the pictureThe Citizens are such a fun team to watch this season and they have only lost narrowly to Arsenal and Blackburn. In both occasion I believe they could have gotten something out of the game. Let’s not forget about their sweet victory over Man Utd. Personally I do think, they will be pushing hard for a place in Europe considering the way the approach their game and the array of talents that they possess. Not bad for a “Con-man” eh.
p/s if the is any City fans who would like to follow up please do so. But I highly doubt so, since in M’sia people only support the so called big four; Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arse-nal.

Finally......
Yeapz, i'm talkin' bout futsal, it's been a while since the last time i've played. I wouldn't wanna remember my last game as i suffered a bad injury on my ankle and since then it's just road to recovery. Thanks to Kean & Duncan for inviting me to join their gang for a game. I actually thought i would sux badly since i'm sort of short of match fitness but it turned out great i guess still managed to cope with the game although in the end still suffered some cramps as a result of pushing to the limits as usual. Football is life man!! It's even better than..... well anything you can think of that makes you feel great, yeah it's better than that! :P
Unfortunately, my body, hips down is so sore, too much walking and thanks to the deadlifts that i did the other day too...

Gearing up
It seems there were over 250 applicants for this competition and from there, only 20 teams were selected based on slogan. I knew she would get in since she's kinda good with this slogans & stuff and previously when both of them join similar competitions, both of them won a digital camera each.
So, the organizers allowed her to send representatives since she and her husband could not make it. Unfortunately, this is where i come in to the picture as "The replacement". Hmm.. reminds me of Keanu, Lolz. (irrelevant...just forget it)
Anyway, one of the main reason of my reluctance to join is of course not that i doubt my own ability but rather i have doubts on my team partner, which is my 2nd bro in law. Well, not that i have doubt on he's ability but rather whether we can work well together. 2nd thing is the main prize is not very attractive.
Mind you, but if i do sound like i'm uninterested in this type of challenges then i'm not. I do enjoy such competitions ala Amazing Race but i need to find a suitable partner that can compliment me well. I'm a firm believer of Yin Yang.
Aight, i guess that's all from me, wish me luck guyz!

Weekender

Everything was fine till i've received a call. Once again i've been cheated by this bastard. Not much that i can do but to take it as an valuable lesson. Naiveness is all i can say...
The match between Man Utd and Spurs did not help either. Time and time again, the call for lady luck was unanswered. I'm gutted that Jol is still managing to the club and thanks to the stupidity of the board, the idea of sacking him back-fired, instead now he has sympathy-backing from most neuters around the world. After the Man Utd game, he said "Tottenham were unlucky losers".
Well to the Tottenham board.. hire a "Lucky manager" than... We have too much decision which has gone againts us. As harsh as this might sound, it's not a coincidence that teams like Chelsea wins every so often. Do you think that they deserve to win most of the time judging by their approach of their match? For me, it's all about their manager the "Special One", Jose Mourinho... ain't no stranger to the art of winning. Once again the Law of Attraction comes into play. I've read "Totally Frank" biography of Frank Lampard. I am quite impressed about the way the "Special One" manages he's team. Don't get me wrong but i'm not a fan of Chelsea but i do like their charismatic manager.
The only positive thing from the performance of Spurs yesterday was the introduction of Bale to Premier League. He did a decent job on the left side but he's game from set-pieces is top class my friend. It's really great to finally see a left-footer whipping in crosses and runs from the left. The 2nd thing to take note is another brief introduction of Adel Taarabt, touted as the next Zinedine Zidane!!! As soon as he came on the pitch, left Giggs having to bring him down after a quick-footwork shuffle, superb stuff. Still only 18 years old, watch out for him guys... he's awesome!!!
At the end of the day, i guess it wasn't so bad after all... partly thanks to this bubbly person. Yes i'll be thinkin of that, the song that you've sent to me. *grin* - My advice, Let bygones be bygones

Woo-hoo!!! Yee-HOoo!!!

Picture taken from The Star...hehe no cameras allowed
WHoooo!! Gwen in da housez!! Yeh babe....Absolutely delighted to be able to Gwen Stefani performed live here in Malaysia!!!! despite all the hummiliating comments from fellow Malaysians on her dressing. Strangely, i do not remember the PCDs facing such issues when they came to Malaysia.
Anyway, upon reaching the stadium... reminisce of good times....ahh its great to be back.. The last time i was there is for the WWE, to witness the most electrifying superstar in sports entertainment. Today i was there to witness another HUGE SUPERSTAR. I have always been a big fan of her No Doubt albums compared to her newer albums.
The queue to enter the stadium was very poorly organized, there's not apparent line and there's no proper signage on which entrance is for which ticket. By the time most people entered the stadium, it was already 9pm.
It did not took long for Gwen's entrace and as expected it was greeted with ROARS and CHEERS. Started off Sweet Escape, 4 in the morning... I'm bit surprised that it climaxed so fast, cause those are the hit songs and a few of the other songs from the Sweet Escape album weren't so popular. I would have been a tad nicer if she left those hit songs as the last few songs. Strangely, during the Sweet Escape song, i was wondering WTF, where the fish is Akon?? I thought he would be there just for a special appearance since he was in Malaysia for he's own mini concert. Anyway no shortage of hit singles from Gwen, hollabackgirl , rich girl, cool, luxurious and few other new songs from her new album. (Thank god i listened to her new album a few times before the concert)
Overally, I think the trip to watch her was worth it! Even though the sound system was crappy (Blasting Gwen thru my Altec Lansing speakers gives more pleasure, not literally). Nevertheless, lotsa showmanship performance and with the Harajuku Girls it was great!! Needless to say that she's so pweetty... i can't seem to find a superlative sufficient to do justice for her iconic presence.
Every move exudus love, angel, music, baby...

Not so Jolly good

After watching Tottenham play their 2nd match of the season, the most realistic target for Spurs in the league would be a top 7 finish. Although, It can be said that the season is still long way to go, the competition has been much more competitive since then. Teams like Everton, Man City, Newcastle and perhaps Reading looked awesome at some point during the opening matches.
I was awake this morning, 3am… to root for my favourite English team…Spurs. Well, within 3 minutes they’ve already conceded a goal from set-piece. This has been the teams weak point as long as I remember. Anyway wasn’t really expecting much from the game, I thought they would at least draw instead they lost 3-1. Well, some might say the score kind of flatter Everton a bit but I would say they deserve the win thoroughly simply because the played as a team, they marked very well, played effective passes and their defence was outstanding. I can only wish my team can play like that.
Whatever happens I don’t blame the players but I’ve been saying all this while, the manager is just not good enough. I’ll tell you why, earlier this season, he already dig he’s own grave by saying that this is the time for them to break into the top 4. Secondly, why do you need to spend ₤16.5 million on a player just to start him from the bench during the 1st game and played him for 65mins during the 2nd game. The team clearly lacks balance on the left side. Two seasons ago, the argument was Spurs did not have aerial targets but since then, this season we have a few players who are good in the air yet, there is no delivery. Malbranque who was played out of position on the left constantly had to cut in just to get a cross in with he’s right leg. The end result would be a simple cross for the superb Everton defence to clear.
For me now, bad results are just blessings in disguise. I will still root for the team whenever I can. I just hope that Martin Jol will get the boot as soon as possible. I am 110% damn f’ksure our Malaysian pundit, Shebby Singh will agree with this.
Spurs forever,

Life is a beauty pagent
Well it's kinda funny when people take circle around before getting to the exact point.
Today i had glimpse of my visualisations. It's made up of pros and cons, then again that's how i view EVERY single damn thing. I STRONGLY feel that there is bad in every good thing and vice versa.
Obviously, you always need to look at the bright side of things. However, awareness of the opposite is vital as well.
Talk bout' my visualisations, man it brings a certain thrill, excitement and hunger. I've always wanted things to be like that although it's not necessary good, tempting though. I might live to regret. No pain no gain?
yEhh babe~!!! wHoooo

Witchcraft
there lives a witch....a crazy one too. As crazy as she gets, she doesn't cackle unlike her peers. Instead smiles after smiles, good enough to make any wizard's day.
Oh, she has a great recipes too... mixing the right ingredients, formin' particular potions.
Whilst the power of certain potions are dubious. It does work up to a certain limit.
trifles, overtures, it bonds in ways. Sweet innocent thoughts overshadowed by devil's advocate. Yet, the greatest assets lies in the mysterio lane, unearthed and unknown"

Deathly Hallows

I’ve found this extra epilogue from Wikipedia on J.K. Rowling's commentary and supplement
In an interview and online chat, Rowling gave additional information on the futures of the main characters that she chose not to include in the epilogue of the book.
-Harry had gone back to Hogwarts to complete his NEWT, becoming an Auror and later head of the Aurors' department, under Kingsley's recommendation. He owns Sirius's bike, which Arthur Weasley fixed up for him. He is married to Ginny. Due to the destruction of the piece of Voldemort's soul that resided in him, Harry can no longer speak Parseltongue.
-Ron worked for a time with George at their store, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, and eventually became an Auror. He is married to Hermione.
-Hermione began a career at the Ministry of Magic at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, and greatly improved life for house-elves and their ilk, but later moved to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement; she helped ensure the eradication of oppressive, pro-pureblood laws. She is married to Ron. She also found her parents and undid the memory modification she put upon them.
-Luna Lovegood has become a naturalist of sorts, searching the world for odd and unique creatures. She eventually marries Rolf, the grandson of Newt Scamander.
-Ginny Weasley played for the Holyhead Harpies Quidditch team for a while and then left behind her athletic career for marriage and family with Harry. She eventually becomes the lead Quidditch correspondent for the Daily Prophet.
-George Weasley names his first child Fred.
-Slytherin had become more diluted, and is no longer the pureblood bastion it once was. Nevertheless, its dark reputation lingers.
-Voldemort's jinx on the Defence Against the Dark Arts position was broken with his death. The subject has a permanent new, unnamed teacher, while Harry comes to lecture the class every so often.
-Firenze was welcomed back into the herd, as the rest of the herd was forced to acknowledge that Firenze’s "pro-human leanings were not shameful, but honourable".
-Kingsley Shacklebolt permanently became Minister of Magic, with Percy working under him as a high official.
-Azkaban no longer uses Dementors, as part of the changes introduced by Kingsley.
-Umbridge was arrested, interrogated and imprisoned for crimes against Muggleborns.
-The Quibbler has returned to its usual condition of "advanced lunacy", and is appreciated for its unintentional humour.
All is well,
EJ
Rise of the Giant

Being the club that was often touted as the club with enormous potential, Tottenham Hotspurs is or rather was always tagged as a sleeping giant. This is simply because they have never able to meet the fans expectations. A decade of under-achievement added together with the constant success of the most hated neighbours (Arse-nal, just FYI) made it more frustrating for the Cockerel fans. It has been a reversal of fortunes from the 1960s, when Tottenham were all-powerful and Arsenal was mired in mediocrity.
Since Martin Jol took over managerial reins from Jacques Santini in November 2004, it seemed to breathe new lease of life to the club. In his first season in charge of the club, Tottenham came within a win to finish 4th in the English Premier League table and qualify for the Champions league. Unfortunately, with a controversial final day of the season, arch-rivals Arse-nal pipped them to the 4th place. Nevertheless, it was the first time in 25 years, the club managed to finish 5th in the league.

More importantly, Jol has patiently built a strong and talented squad at White Hart Lane, backed by the sound financial management of Daniel Levy and his board, and Spurs fans are daring to dream about a return to the glory, glory days. To me, this signals the beginning of a new era, the awakening of the giant.
Last season the club was expected to challenge again for the Champions League spot but instead they seem to have taken a step back. At one point of the season, it looks as if they struggle to even qualify for the UEFA cup spot. I felt that the club was more of style over substance, constantly trying to play the free-flowing attacking football, yet some of the players lack the quality to do so. Moreover, the players brought in were very much different individuals. I think the club should have focused on building a collective group of players with similar qualities since the club has already set on the style of football to be played.
Most of the times, I felt that Martin Jol has reached he’s limit for the club. I do appreciate what he does so far but it could be time for a new approach. With the recent spree spending of over ₤39 million, the pressure on him to finish at least 4th in the league is greater than ever. Here are the transfer activities for the club so far:
Players Out:
Reto Ziegler to Sampdoria.Undisclosed fee
Hossam Ghaly to Birmingham City for ₤3million
Mido to Sunderland for ₤6million
Players In:
Gareth Bale, ₤10million
Youngest ever player to play for Wales aged just 16 years and 315 days when he made debut on 27 May 2006 as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago. .Although being trained as a left-back, Bale's left-footed prowess and free kick ability have evoked comparisons to the legendary left-footed winger Ryan Giggs, also from Wales. Hopefully he’ll solve our most problematic side; left midfield.
Adel Taarabt, undisclosed fee
He has been described by Tottenham's Sporting Director Damien Comolli "as one of the best talents in Europe for his age group. Definitely one for the future.
Darren Bent, ₤16.5million
You don’t need a pundit to tell you that he’s definitely overpriced, eclipsed Thierry Henry’s transfer fee to Barcelona by £500,000. This lad has a lot to prove for the club. Fortunately, he’s already looking sharp in the preseason. Hopefully he’ll formed a formidable partnership with Berby.
Younes Kaboul, ₤8million
He was known to be the 'back bone' for Auxerre, due to his excellent tackling skills, good judgement and strength. He was also known to score a few key goals that clinched wins for Auxerre. While at the club he represented France at under 19 and under 21 level, captaining the Under 21 side on numerous occasions. I believe he will feature straight into the first team considering that our captain, King will be out for the start of the season.
Danny Rose, undisclosed fee
I really don’t know much about this guy. Played he’s football at Leeds and was a youth product together with the likes of our young superstar Aaron Lennon. If he can produce anything as spectacular on the left side, he will definitely be useful for the team.
Kevin-Prince Boateng, ₤5.4million
one of the Bundesliga's biggest talents, scoring four goals in his 42 league appearances for Hertha as well as being voted the country's best young player in July last year, definitely an exciting prospect.
I believe there is still one two final transfers left to complete the remaining jigsaw piece. Despite all the transfers, I a bit disappointed with the club not signing a left winger yet. Although there are options of playing a couple on the left, I still hope the club can sign a creative force who can play on the left, probably someone in the mould of Kim Kallstrom. One thing that I’m glad is despite all the links of bringing players in, we have managed to kept our top Bulgarian striker, Dimitar Berbatov for at least another season. I’m delighted that he did not jump ship immediately after such a brilliant first season in the league.

With the English Premier League just around the corner, it’s the moment of truth for all Spurs fan to witness whether our team can justify all the hype of challenging for title. I would definitely settle for a spot in the Champions league and ousting Arsenal out of the top 4 would definitely top the cheery and icing on the cake. It’s time for the Rise of the Giant.
Cheers,
EJ

Malaysia Tak Boleh
After reading and listening to some of the comments from the public and also local figures, i feel that the root of cause for the poor quality of Malaysian football is more a less a national issue. While i do agree that one of the problem do lies within the coaches, manager and board, where there should not be any royal connection related to football as the decision-making process will definately be affected, there is no apparent strategy for the team; they look clueless and what annoys me the most is when the manager if i'm not mistaken stated before the match that they are no match for the opppositions and so on. What kind of manager is this? If the manager himself gives up before the team, then what are they supposed to do? I say sack them all, revamp the whole football system and bring in fresh approach.
Now here is my two cents on what i think will hinder the growth of Malaysian football no matter what happens. As i mentioned earlier, this is more like a national issue whether directly or indirectly. Basically, i do not believe that our country is lacking of talents. But where are the talents? If you take a look at the obvious facts that probably about 90% of the local footballers are Malays. Being a multi-racial country where are the chinese and indians? Dont get me wrong here but i am not suggesting that Malays are not talented but i feel that if there were more contributions from other races, surely there will be more talented players.
Unfortunately, this is not something which is changeable since it is more a less a fixed mentality from other races. Coming from a chinese family myself, parents always expect their child to be future professionals, doctors, lawyers, engineers etc. I can imagine if a chinese kid declaring he's ambition, " Mom, i wanna be a professional football player when i grow up" . Possible responds would be, " lu siao ahhh??" or probably the kid would get smacked and brainwashed. I am pretty sure this will happen in an indian family as well since at some point it seems like all indians are meant to study medicine. It kind of amuses me when i listen to chinese and indians giving critical comments on the state of Malaysian football but do wonder if they do have a sense of responsibility rather than just pointing fingers.
